The BRT+ Centre of Excellence announces its post-Mobilize Workshop: Integrating new mobility services into public transport, which aims to discuss and propose how to better integrate new mobility solutions with public transport.
The event is going to be held in Fortaleza, Brazil, and is open to profesional practitioners, academics, students and general public interested in the field.

Context
In the last decade we have seen the rise of different trends and innovations related to urban passenger transportation, ranging from shared mobility services, such as bike sharing and TNC (e.g. Uber and others) services, development of concepts such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS), and ongoing progress on autonomous vehicle technologies. These mobility alternatives and conceptualizations have emerged not as part of a coordinated effort, but as ambitious initiatives which have tried to close the gap between what is established in our legislations and what the new technologies have been able to provide us.
On the other hand, it has long been accepted in the research community that a sustainable transport system can only be achieved in our cities through the enhancement of an extensive and reliable public transport network. However, many Latin-American cities had not been able to provide an attractive public transportation system, especially to its poorer and most vulnerable areas. Therefore, one of the main challenges that our societies face is how to integrate the new mobility services in a manner that can substantially improve the quality of public transport. Particularly, helping to reverse current trends of marginalization that a significant part of the population is suffering.
